BANANAS FOR BOOKS
Characters: Charlie Gaines is a 12 year old nerd and he is all about football. He is best friends with Anna Bretton granddaughter of the owner of the L.A. Bulldogs. Anna is very atheletic and loves football as well. Mr. Warren is very old and owns the L.A. Bulldogs and has liked Charlie ever since they've met.
Setting: Charlie lives with his mother in Culver City,CA. Charlie's mother works at a theater.
Plot: Charlie lives with his single mother in Culver City,CA. He is friends with Anna Bretton and they both love football. Charlie became a player assistant on the Cardinals. He convinced the L.A. Bulldogs to sign Tom Pinkett. Charlie became an assistant for the LA Bulldogs. When Charlie became the bulldogs assistant, Charlie convinced the Bulldogs to sign Jack Sutton. He plays very poorly and the Bulldogs fans become mad at Charlie. Charlie scores the winning touchdown on the final game and the cardinals win. Mr. Warren has a heart attack after the cardinals game. Afterwards the Bulldogs play against the seahawks and win. In the end Mr. Warren survives survives the heart attack. The LA Bulldogs make the playoffs, and after Charlie's touchdown, he and Anna become friends again.
Point of View: The point of view is third person limited because it gives feelings of Charlie and no one else. An example from the story is, "Are the Bulldogs going to make the playoffs, is Mr. Warren going to be ok? I thought to myself."
Theme: The theme of the book is never giving up. Charlie never gave up when he got the fumble and scored the touchdown. He never gave up the play and never gave up in the book. Charlie also never gave up believing that Mr. Warren would be ok and would survive.
